Establishing A Base for Your Face

Preparing your face for makeup is like preparing a canvas for painting. You always want to make sure you have the right tools. When you want to paint a room in your home, you need to make sure the walls are perfectly clean and you have used a coat of primer. Your face is no different. A great primer will fill in and create a smooth base for a flawless finish. It will help your skin look radiant and luminous. Foundation goes on easier and stays longer. It minimizes pores and fine lines. There are numerous primers on the market. Here are a few and my reviews:

The Present by Philosophy

This primer is awesome because very little goes a long way! It is important to let it dry for a full 5 minutes before you apply your foundation. If you live in high humidity, this primer will not melt away. It stays where you put it. It controls shine and doesn’t clog pores or irritate skin. It actually reduces the look of enlarges pores and fine lines. It is not sticky and it will last all day!

Laura Mercier Hydrating Foundation Primer

Make sure to shake this one well for at least 30 seconds for best results. I love this primer as it holds 200 times its own weight in water for a hydrating and plumping effect. It contains aloe vera which is an anti-inflammatory. As with all primers, let it soak in fully before continuing with foundation. Great for those who live in dry climates as this will keep your skin looking flawless and hydrated all day!

Jane Iredale Smooth Affair Facial Primer and Brightener

This line is considered the skin care makeup as everything in her line is working hard to nourish and protect your precious skin. This primer contains grapefruit extract and creates such a beautiful, luminous finish. It also helps to prevent trans-epidermal water loss.
